Auditions

EKOSingers welcomes new members at the beginning of each new season.  Auditions are held in September right after Labour Day at our normal rehearsal space. If you are an adult and enjoy singing pop, jazz, gospel, and swing we encourage you to contact us!

The audition comprises a song, preferably in a popular style (e.g., jazz, swing, musical theatre, etc.), you have prepared in advance.  Please bring sheet music or a chord chart so you can be accompanied at the piano.  Your audition will also include a few scales, a bit of harmonizing, and (don’t panic!) some sight reading.

Our goal is not to intimidate you, but to hear what you love doing and determine whether and where your voice might fit within the EKOS style and sound.

We look for people who love to sing, and love to perform!  Those who have a good feel for popular styles of music - especially for swing.  Music reading is a definite asset, but a good ear and ability to pick up your part quickly are most important since we perform from memory.  During our rehearsal year, part recordings (mp3s) and Scorch files are made available to assist note learning.
